This research investigates the impact of Building Information Modelling (BIM) on construction efficiency within the Nigerian construction industry, with a focus on Lagos as a case study. The study aims to examine the landscape of BIM adoption within the Nigerian construction industry, highlighting varying degrees of involvement, benefits, and challenges associated with its implementation. Through a qualitative research approach, the study explores the current status of BIM adoption, identifies key challenges and opportunities, and offers recommendations for enhancing BIM implementation.
The findings reveal a complex landscape of BIM adoption, with varying levels of awareness and technical expertise among stakeholders. While BIM offers significant benefits, such as improved project efficiency and collaboration, challenges such as infrastructure constraints and resistance to change hinder its widespread adoption. Recommendations include industry-wide education programmes, standardisation of BIM practices, and infrastructure development initiatives to overcome barriers to BIM adoption. Overall, the study emphasises the transformative potential of BIM in revolutionising construction practices in Nigeria and highlights the importance of collaborative efforts to drive its effective adoption.
