This article critically evaluates Andrew Agapiou’s quantitative research titled “Barriers to Offsite Construction Adoption: A Quantitative Study among Housing Associations in England,” conducted in 2022. Agapiou’s study investigates the impact of professionals’ experience on their perception of Offsite Construction (OSC), highlighting the alignment of views among experienced individuals and significant concerns among those without direct experience. The primary objective is to explore how offsite construction can contribute to providing affordable homes, addressing the challenges of expensive housing and housing shortages in England.
Moreover, the study relates to the construction technology and environmental services competence of the RICS project management pathway, emphasizing its significance. Summarily, this is an aspect of project management that has to do with the design and construction of buildings and other structures. This academic exploration contributes to the chosen competence by delving into potential environmentally friendly solutions for construction processes and elucidating the impact of these processes on costs. (2017), the findings highlight the possibility of offsite construction to accelerate the development of high-quality, affordable building projects as well as the cost-related barriers to adoption. Hence, this study not only reinforces the conclusions of previous research but also augments the existing body of knowledge on the topic.
